New Year Eve on Koh Samui! Recommendations of Santa Clause

The idea of leaving winter and celebrating the New Year on a tropical island cannot be called original for those who live in “cold” countries. That is why New Year is a peak season on Koh Samui. The prices become higher, there are many people and cars on the streets, and almost all villas and hotels are booked.

In addition, the weather in December and January is a big surprise for the tourists.

What can we advise the guests?

Firstly. Plan your holiday beforehand.

There are some cases of cancelling the booking at the last moment, so that you are able to book the villa “of your dream”. But in most cases by the end of November almost all villas are already booked. So it is better to plan your holiday as early as possible. The best variants are booked in the first place.

Secondly. The weather.

The usual topic of conversation when you do not know what to talk about. But in our case it is an important point. Perhaps now you are dreaming of running on the beach in the warm tropical rain, enjoying the rain drops on you face and then jumping into the pool. The birds are singing and the chef declares that the lunch is ready.

But let’s leave this tropical idyll and return to the reality.

First of all, tropical rain is often abundunt, with strong gusts of wind that can tear off coconuts, blow leaves and rubbish. The rain can also be a course of flooding.

Secondly, the rain season brings stormy sea and muddy water.  Our recommendations how to minimize the disadvantages of rainy season are the following: choose villa with the private pool, avoid villas in lowlands and be carefull to book villas on the beach.

Thirdly. Traffic.  

There are traffic gems on ths island during New Year season. If you prefer to go sightseeing, you should think of the villa’s location. We recommend to choose Plai Laem, Choeng Mon , Chaweng if  you like shopping, night clubs and other activities. From these districts you can easily access the central part of the island. In other case, you can spend much time in traffic gems.

Fourthly. Services.

Think beforehand what you are going to do during your holiday, plan it and book excursions, Spa, cruises and other activities.  If you try to book them on arrival, there are few chances to get what you want. It is difficult even to rent a car these days.
